ONES TO WATCH: HANGOUT FEST 2023

BEACH WEATHER (ALEX SHUKRI)

The trio has returned! Beach Weather took an indefinite hiatus back in 2017, but they have returned with new singles ‘Trouble With This Bed’ and ‘Unlovable’ and a new-found viral success. If you loved hearing ‘Sex, Drugs, Etc’ all across your FYP, you need to catch Beach Weather at Hangout Fest! Their signature indie-rock and R&B style will surprise you and keep you wanting more.

CHARLOTTE SANDS (DYLAN MAGGS)

After a successful UK tour with alt/indie legends PVRIS in which she gripped fans of every city, our favorite blue-haired alternative icon Charlotte Sands is set to take over the stage in Alabama. If you’re looking for an energetic and powerful performance to fill your day, Charlotte is the name that should be on your list. Be warned though, as soon as you hear tracks such as ‘Dress’, ‘Day’ and ‘Alright’, you won’t be able to get them out of your head. I know I haven’t been able to.

FLUME (DAN TSOUREKAS)

Yet another experimental EDM powerhouse, Flume will be performing a medley of new and old, following the release of his latest project Palaces. With phenomenal visuals, interesting surprise guests throughout the set, and Flume’s signature sound, the audience can expect a fully atmospheric experience that is destined to turn some heads and create one of the most unique and memorable sets of the festival.

JORDANA (ALFREDO LUNA)

On the heels of her 2022 releases, Face the Wall and I'm Doing Well, Thanks for Asking, Jordana was able to bridge the gap from bedroom indie darling to venturing into a glossier and poppier sound. The development of her sound takes influence and inspiration from the New York based artist's collaborations with TV Girl and Magdalena Bay. The newer sound is the perfect soundtrack to soak up the sun on the white sand beaches of Gulf Shores, with tracks like ‘Pressure Point’, ‘Summer's Over’ and ‘Catch My Drift’ being amongst the most anticipated of her set.

LIL NAS X (ALEX SHUKRI)

Do you remember ‘Old Town Road’, ‘Call Me By Your Name’ or ‘Industry Baby?’ That’s all from Lil Nas X, American rapper and singer-songwriter. His concerts are not one to miss, as his enchanting stage presence and stunning showmanship from himself and his dancers will have your eyes glued on the stage from the first note. Lil Nas Xs latest album, Montero, will keep you on your feet dancing the whole show.

PARAMORE (DYLAN MAGGS)

With their 6th studio-album This Is Why set for release on February 10th, Paramore are set to take over Hangout Fest. The touring-titans have already completed a successful US tour, but what makes their stop at Hangout Fest so different is they’ll have a new collection of songs in their arsenal to grip the audience - most of which will be played for the first time. So if you want to catch some classic pop punk tracks like ‘Misery Business’ and ‘All I Wanted’ or newer indie inspired bops like ‘C'est Comme Ca’, then Paramore should definitely maintain a spot on your radar.

RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS (EVAN ALBUCK)

The Chilli Peppers are not a band to miss. With their recent release of their 2022 album, Unlimited Love featuring songs like; ‘Black Summer’, ‘Aquatic Mouth Dance’ and ‘Poster Child’, they made a huge spike in the music industry since their last release in 2016. With their funky pickups and signature California rock, they draw a very diverse crown all around the world. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers are a must see at Hangout Festival.

SKRILLEX (DAN TSOUREKAS)

Skrillex has been an innovator in the electronic music scene since the late 2000s, Following his return to the scene with the highly energetic singles ‘Rumble’, ‘Way Back’, ‘Real Spring’, and ‘Xena’, as well as a return to live shows with his 3 back to back sets alongside Fred Again.. and Fourtet at Electric Brixton in London, he is back at Hangout 2023 to provide the festival’s audience with high tempo beats and his classic experimental sounds people have come to love and celebrate. Definitely a must watch for anyone attending.

SZA (ALEX SHUKRI)

Coming to Hangout Fest with an unsinkable album, SZA is an act you better get there early for. With notable hits from four albums like ‘Love Galore’ ‘The Weekend’ and ‘Kill Bill’, no matter how long you’ve been listening to SZA’s songs, you don’t want to miss out on this. And who knows, you might hear ‘Big Boys’.

the kid laroi (dylan maggs)

Australian rapper and singer-songwriter Charlton Howard, better known as The Kid LAROI, is ready to rile up the crowd on the sandy beaches of Alabama with a punchy and rhythmic performance. As another artist with an album on the horizon, he’s already released new tracks that will be sure to get a spot on the setlist, and as the release of The Last Time draws nearer, more music is sure to be teased. And if you have somehow not heard one of The Kid LAROI’s large quantity of trending tracks, be sure to check out ‘Stay’ and ‘Without You’ as your entrance points.

thundercat (evan albuck)

Thundercat opened for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers on their most recent tour. He was a great pairing for the band since his recognisable funky riffs on bass, match the Chilli Peppers style. This time, on his own festival stage, Thundercat plays some of his best known songs such as; ‘Them Changes’ and ‘Funny Things'. If you are a fan of funky bass riffs and jazz inspired music, Thundercat is your guy to see at Hangout Festival.

yung gravy (dylan maggs)

Yung Gravy is an artist that creates some incredibly catchy tracks mixing modern-day trap with some of the more older styles of music, but if you haven’t heard of American Rapper before, you’ll probably know him as the artist who openly expresses his obsession for ‘milfs’. But as well as his comedic personality, Yung Gravy does make incredibly dancey tracks like ‘Betty (Get Money)’, ‘oops!’ and ‘Hot Tub’ that are sure to get the sea of fans dancing and jumping around. The correct artist to listen to during a hot day on the beach.
