ON OUR RADAR: BLOOD OF ANGELS

With a new album in the works, Tampa’s Blood Of Angels are On Our Radar today!

INTRODUCE YOURSELVES!

My name is Aaron Robinson, I am the guitarist for Tampa, Florida USA based metal band Blood of Angels.

WHAT’S YOUR ORIGIN STORY?

We began in 2015 with our first release being the Rise of the Fallen Gods EP in 2017.  The single ‘Odin’s Wrath’ did a lot of good things for us.  We won some independent music awards.  The big one being Best Metal/Hardcore Song at the 16th Annual Independent Music Awards.

Since then, we released our first full-length album Failure of Faith in 2020.  As soon as we were able to, we got on the road and toured in the USA and headlined a few small festivals such as Metal Fest XI in Kentucky.  Which is a fantastic cancer benefit headed by Allen Ashbaugh.  We also contributed tracks for Black Sabbath and Motorhead tribute albums. Recently, we just released our latest single titled ‘Spillage’ last October.  We plan on writing and recording a new album this coming year.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC TO A POTENTIAL LISTENER?

We are blend of the metal subgenres of death, black, thrash, and power metal.  Most people refer to us as melodic death metal.

WHAT’S THE INSPIRATION BEHIND YOUR LATEST SINGLE?

The concept for our upcoming album is songs about different rituals of death and mourning.  ‘Spillage’ came about when our vocalist saw a dead possum in his yard.  That made him think of the end of life that we all experience.

What issues are important to you? Do you use your music and platform to communicate these?

We are concerned with climate change and the social unrest that has brewed within our heavily divided country, and the rise of theocratic movements in free societies.  Our last album Failure of Faith tackled the latter.

What are your top 3 albums at the moment?

Ozzy Osbourne’s Patient Number 9, Noctambulant’s Hellrazor and Megadeth’s The Sick, The Dying, and The Dead.

What’s one song you wish you could have written?

Fear Factory’s song ‘Fear Campaign’, musically and lyrically it is just genius from start to finish.

If you could tour with anyone, who would it be?

Fear Factory, Lamb of God, and Dark Tranquility.

What should your fans be expecting from your band in the near future?

We have been on a break since the middle of October when we wrapped up touring for Failure of Faith.  We will be writing and recording a new album this year.  We hope to have it out by the end of 2023 and begin touring with a new show in 2023.
