NUUXS is here to tell us about her future plans and the importance of having routine in the midst of a pandemic.

 Introduce yourself!

My name is NUUXS and I am a singer, songwriter and all round lover of food.

How would you describe your music to a potential listener?

Its quirky, encompassed with soul and embellished with either an uplifting mood or a pang of despair. Not dramatic at all..

Since STARTING IN MUSIC, do you feel it has grown in the direction you hoped for, or has there been any setbacks?

There are always setbacks but only the ones that you consider to be real in your head. Comparison is the worst tool of torture and it should be banned. Learning to be you is the best thing you will do, you will absolutely fall in love with that person once you meet them.

Which tracks are you most proud of to date and why?

I’m super proud of ‘Our Love’ because I’ve been wanting to release this for some time now. It’s so old and beautiful. I’m also very happy with the response to ‘Laundry’ and ‘Dreamers’ which are also singles from my upcoming debut album ‘Heirloom’.

Where do you feel you fit in in an ever changing and demanding music scene?

I consider myself to be in the alternative genre and have been described as pop-noir. I am ever changing and experimenting with what life inspires me with.

Do you have any tips for keeping your mental health in check throughout this period of time?

It’s tough, I think everyone has felt alone at some point in this pandemic. Routine is healthy so if you can join a group of friends and set challenges that could work. Even if its like a simple recipe you can all cook on the same night for fun. I have always struggled with exercise but I am doing monthly challenges with friends and finding that support really helpful and you can the little pressure of keeping up with one another is actually useful. I have also gone through all of Netflix.

What issues are important to you? How do you use your music and platform to communicate these?

I believe in kindness, honesty and healing. I want my music to say it’s okay to have been there, but let’s also give ourselves time to enjoy the now. You deserve it.

What are your top three albums at the moment?

I am a sucker for Tame Impala’s The Slow Rush I literally listen to it casually every other day. I also love I Used To Know Her by H.E.R. its so beautiful how can you not? Last but not least I would say Bicep with Isles, I mean what? Just incredible and getting me fully excited for the easing of lockdown.

What’s one song you wish you could have written?

This is always so hard to answer, there are so many pivotal songs in my life but I would have to say ‘Money’ by Pink Floyd. When you here it it’s so bad ass and legendary, anything Pink Floyd.

If you could tour with anyone, who would it be?

I would love to tour with Christine and The Queens, we could speak French together and I could learn how to dance.

What should your fans be expecting from your band in the near future?

I want to tour, I miss sharing the interaction with people and talk about what it all the songs mean to us. I love how songs you write can mean something different for the listener, it is so amazing when someone tells you it means something completely different to them. You can also expect a full debut album ‘Heirloom’ on September 3rd with a few more singles and music videos to introduce it.
