PREVIEW: REPERCUSSION FESTIVAL 2022

The Warehouse Project is back this September, taking over Depot Mayfield once again for the second edition of Repercussion Festival, a day to night festival with an abundance of exceptional music and art.

The Warehouse Project has been a staple in Manchester nightlife for years now. A majority of events sell out as soon as the annual calendar announcement comes to light. Last year, the announcement of the Repercussion Festival, signalled a ground-breaking moment for the collective, which presented a five-stage day festival stacked with an immense range of artists and sounds bound to capture the attention of every music lover out there.

This year, the festival expands with one of the most impressive line-ups yet, featuring some of the most popular uprising artists across genres. With names including Jamie xx, Little Simz, Fred Again.., Nightmares on Wax, and Mr Scruff, it is bound to be one of the most memorable nights the venue has seen.

The Depot Mayfield will be split into 6 stages, each with their own talented line-up and variation of sounds. On the Depot stage, audiences can greet showstoppers the likes of Jamie xx, Little Simz and Fred Again.., all worth seeing due to their amazing setlists and stage production.

The Concourse stage provides more eclectic, niche sounds, with a unique line-up of DJs featuring Jeff Mills, Hunee, Benji B, and Carista, all guaranteed to keep listeners constantly on their toes.

The Archive stage features an extraordinary mashup of genres, whether it be through Goldie’s immense representation of jungle and drum and bass, Gilles Peterson’s tasteful acid jazz collection, A Certain Ratio’s post punk spirit, or Nightmare On Wax’s relaxed trip hop and downtempo tunes. It is quite certainly a stage worth visiting.

A bit further down from the Archive stage, the Temperance Street Party will be held, hosting a legendary line up of DJs, quite notably Mr Scruff and David Rodigan, who alongside the rest of the line-up are bound to provide amazing music to their audience, featuring a mix of trip hop, jazz, electro swing, jungle, and reggae music throughout the day.

Finally, Manchester’s own Star & Garter’s two floors will host the worldwide famous Boiler Room DJ performances, with unique sets varying in style from Ash Lauryn, Colin Curtis, Jazzcotech and many more.

For the record collectors, the plant room located in Escape To Freight Island will provide the Repercussion Record Fair, a vinyl haven which includes multiple rare cuts, records from artists on the line up, and a soundtrack curated by Luke Una’s É Soul Cultura.

The Warehouse Project’s second ever Repercussion Festival is bound to set the bar for this year’s calendar, with an impressive roster of artists, a fascinating variety of stages, and an impeccable spectrum of music genres. It is quite simply an event worth attending.
